Student applications are now being accepted for the Wisconsin Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) 2011 "Wisconsin Express" cultural immersion program, which will run May 23-27, 2011.

During Wisconsin Express, health professions students -- in any professional or academic program, at any level of training -- spend a week in one of Wisconsin’s diverse communities learning about healthcare resources and challenges faced by local, regional, urban or rural populations.

Activities of the week focus on the health care challenges and innovations within a specific community. Students in multidisciplinary groups/teams explore strategies for intercultural  and interprofessional effectiveness in health care practice. Throughout the week, participants have opportunities to reflect on and evaluate their experience.
