Wisconsin Rural Partners, Inc. awarded Wisconsin Community Leadership Awards to an individual and organization at a June 5 ceremony at the Holiday Inn Conference Center in Stevens Point. The awards were presented by Wisconsin Rural Partners president Bill Wheeler at the conclusion of the 2009 Wisconsin Rural Summit.

The organization award was presented to Northwoods NiiJii Enterprise Community, a unique non-profit community development organization serving three tribes in northern Wisconsin with a wide array of programming.

Wally Orzechowski, Executive Director of Southwest CAP in Dodgeville received the individual leadership award for dynamic leadership and vision that resulted in the creation of three community health clinics in southwestern Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin Community Leadership Award recognizes an individual and/or a community organization that has made a significant and notable contribution to a Wisconsin community. The award is presented by Wisconsin Rural Partners, Inc. to individuals and community organizations to honor their contributions in the areas of Community Service and Involvement, Leadership and Consistency of Community Involvement.
